The Schedule Analyst acquires, maintains and develops the airline’s portfolio of slots for all airports within the Network.
This is achieved through developing the relationship with Civil Aviation Authorities, Airports and Slots Coordinators & Facilitators.
The Schedule Analyst keeps Commercial, Operations and the Leadership Team informed on all matters pertaining to the slots situation.
This role is very dynamic and crucial to the airline, especially due to the high growth phase planned.
Core Scheduling Duties
§ Develop schedule scenarios to optimize the utilization of aircraft and crew from the Network Plan
§ Finalize seasonal schedules in time to balance revenue with cost and slots availability
§ Keep abreast of the IATA Scheduling deadlines for timely slots submission for each season
§ Follow IATA guidelines to secure and manage slots; in particular, monitor the minimum 80% ‘Use it or Lose it’ rule to guarantee the continuous and growing airline’s ownership of slots
§ Build and manage relationships with the country’s (GACA) and foreign Civil Aviation Authorities as well as Slot Coordinators (Level 1), Slot Facilitators (Level 2) and Airports (Level 3) within the Network
§ Communicate with the above parties in the appropriate Schedule Change Request (SCR) and Schedule Movement Advice (SMA) formats as per IATA Slots Guidelines
§ Apply for and obtain additional slots for Seasonal operations (eg. Summer peak) and Supplementary flights (eg. Eid)
§ Implement any schedule change required (beyond the 72-hour OCC window) with minimum disruption to passengers through clear and prompt internal communication
§ Load and manage flights (jointly as required) in Operations and Host Reservation systems in a timely manner
§ Monitor Daylight Saving Time (DST) for the relevant countries where the airline operates for the accurate reflection of the schedule to passengers and in distribution channels
§ Develop the schedule with both the productivity and lifestyle of crew in mind so as to optimise crew ratios and reduce attrition
§ Update Commercial Department (Revenue Management, Sales, Network, Marketing) of schedule change completion, slots status and approval processes
§ Update Operations Department (Flight Ops, Ground Operations, OCC and Crew Scheduling) of schedule change completion, slots status and approval processes
§ Jointly design the process with OCC for the frozen schedule handover
§ Design the process with Revenue Management to load the Commercial Schedule in the Host Reservation system
§ Work with Distribution to ensure the schedule is reflected in third party GDSes and APIs, wherever applicable
§ File the schedule with Innovata and OAG
§ Represent the airline at the twice-yearly IATA Slots Conference
§ Promote the airline’s interests at Airports Facilitation Committees
Represent the airline for all matters pertaining to slots within the Group
Systems selection & development
§ Help design RfPs for the required Schedule Planning & Optimisation system
§ Engage with Ops and Commercial to understand and advise how Scheduling will interface with other company systems
Management & Leadership
§ Keep abreast of the latest IATA Guidelines pertaining to slots management
§ Communicate with airports to inform the business of future slots constraints, capacity development and any Airport Categorization change (Levels)
§ Liaise with Operations to periodically review flight and block hour accuracy for each route
